Took the hike counterclockwise and only took about an hour and 15 minutes to get to upper Jade lake. The trail was overall quite easy and the views the entire we were astounding. The fishing at Jade was quite good as well. In a matter of 1.5 hours I caught 5 fish on my fly rod. The only people I saw the entire time was at the start; 3 cowgirls leading a string of horses to the north. The next time I take this hike I plan on going clockwise up the loop to access the better side of fishing on the lake.

I loved this hike... did the 10 mile loop, challenging with mud and wetness, would still say it’s moderate. All the lakes were gorgeous, and the fields of wildflowers were just beautiful . I’d recommend doing it counter clockwise because the dissent down the mountain was easier than those doing it clockwise coming up that steep steep almost 3 miles of mountain.

Very nice trail, started at Brooks Lake campground, near lodge. about 5.5 miles, in loop around both lakes. Not very hard, after initial climb is fairly level. Beautiful views and nice mix of forest settings and open fields. A few creek crossings, easy to cross.

Took some guests from California hiking yesterday. So beautiful, and trail was in great shape. Love this lake. Fishing is excellent!

If you're coming from Jackson / Yellowstone, Google will take you on a route with a temporary road closure due to bear activity. (Horse carcass on road). That section of the road is really rough anyways. You're better off entering Brooks lake road from the Dubois side.

lovely hike...not too difficult....maybe easy to moderate. we started going up and to the left for the loop. keep your offline maps of this with you as there are other trails not marked on the map. also couldn't find the red route where it intersects with the black dotted line so just took the black dotted line route back

Marked down because it starts in a horse pasture which can be very dusty or muddy. The mud was so thick it clung to our boots making us turn back before the lake. Brooks Lake is gorgeous, however.
