Started my 101 trails of Yellowstone with this trail that was close to home and an easy start for me. Slight hill climb but nothing killer. lots of ducks, birds, chipmunks, and a couple of snakes. Lots of flowering lilypads and activity on the lake. Good beginner hike.

Did this hike in the morning to help cut down on the exposure to mosquito's. Overall this was a pleasant hike as it ascends gradually up and when you get to the top you are treated to a lake lined with lily pads similar to Cub Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. I still like Cub Lake better as the pads are bigger and the lake itself is nicer looking. I would love to come back in the fall and see if the pads change into fall colors like Cub Lake does.

A very easy hike with a light ascent. The lake is very beautiful with Lilly pads. I was half surprised a moose didn't await us at the top. The reason this only gets 2 stars is because the trail just ends on one side of the lake, no option to go further or all the way around it. Another reason was because of all the mosquitos! Large stagnant water=mosquitos. Be prepared, bring mosquito repellant, you will need it.

Nice, easy 1 mile trail to Harlequin Lake. Very woodsy. We didn’t see any wildlife but be careful of bears.

It's an easy trail to a small lake! We caught some frogs but the area around the lake is very muddy! Still a great time, though! Big lily pads!

This trail is really easy, other than the hike up a really small hill. Beautiful lake.

First to Review

This was the last hike we did at the end of our trip on the way back out to West Yellowstone. It was a short, easy hike through some trees and with an easy grade. The lake at sunset was really beautiful, there are tons of lily pads covering the edges that you hike to. The trail head is on the north side of the road and the parking lot is on the south and it is marked by a small sign just west of Madison Junction. If you're looking for a good, easy short hike, this would be one to consider.
