Moderate for length. Strenuous for steepness. A good way to clear the lungs and stretch the legs. Elevation gain is quick and the upper ridge allows a line of sight all the way to the northern end of the valley.

Hiking or horse only. Do it either early morning or evening for best temperatures as there is little shade. Loose gravel can be slippery because of the incline. Lots of views on both sides and wildflowers!

Did a sunrise hike in this trail using the headlight. Played some music and chatted along to keep the bears at bay. The views of the Grand Teton were incredible, as was the view oh Jackson with the two king lights. The wildflowers added a burst of color. A good workout. Loved the hike! Careful on the way down with the gravel.

The trail goes through grassland/sagebrush habitat with a lot of wildflowers and provides beautiful views of the Tetons and Downtown Jackson. My only dislikes were that 1.) the tranquility of the trail was disturbed by music blasting from town below for a good portion of the hike and 2.) it is a very steep trail made of loose gravel. I often lost my traction due to unstable footing caused by the loose gravel trail. It was an excellent workout! Harder than I expected- it is only 3 miles but very much uphill the entire time.

The trail that starts off through some beautiful Aspen trees and we had lovely wildflowers on the day we went, it was a pretty easy incline in the beginning, but then it gets steep and you switch back your way up the mountain. Definitely not for anyone out of shape and not able to handle a steep incline, I took my ten year old and thirteen year old and it was tough, but we made it to the top. Great views at the top and along the way of Jackson and the surrounding area.
