Cottonwood Draw Falls is a 2.5 mile out and back trail located near Wheatland, Wyoming that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking.
This seasonal waterfall is only visible during a wet spring. The trail requires some bushwhacking. The falls are about one mile from the creek/end of the visible trail.
Not sure if this would be considered the Wet Spring (Winter Solstice 21 December), but the falls were definitely running today. It was nice to have the place to ourselves, but the last half of the hike was difficult to stay on the trail and get up to the waterfalls. It is overgrown and hard in places, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Due to where we had to park, it was 2 miles out and back to the falls and roughly took an hour each way.
Three hour round trip at a comfortable pace with some stopping. It's a pretty hike with varied terrain. Follow the creek to the waterfall. I did it on an afternoon in December, and the waterfall was flowing.
Nice out & back. Falls we’re still running on 5/30. Lots of swallows by the falls. Some bushwhacking needed near the end. Asante chased a turkey & Gabe caught lots of frogs.
Nice hike for this area. Trail was not really defined, so did a lot of scrambling.
