Slippery snow over ice on most of the trail made this surprisingly difficult. Might be easier if you wait until it warms up and melts some. Don’t forget to sign the hiker’s log at the top!

Great hike with panoramic views. Changing terrain kept it interesting. We saw elk on the way up and you can’t beat the fall colors.

Took me a long time to climb up (I'm old) but well worth the views down into Gardner, Mammoth Hot Springs, Everts, and the BMA areas where it was nice to see the areas the animals have all to themselves! Saw maybe 5 birds whole time but a close up encounter with a female grouse was fun. Maybe two chipmunks but that was it for animals. wildflowers gone except some Yarrow and a couple of Dandelions. Be prepared to hike on a lot of scree.

A great hike with amazing views for most of the hike to the top .... you should ensure you cover the three peaks at the top.

Wonderful day sunny and windy terrific views all the way up.. View from the top is well worth it. Two senior citizens took us a little longer than some about 90 minutes. But it’s 90 great great minutes. Perfect time of year no bugs no flies

Steady grade, nice scenic trail. Cancerous cell tower at the end but some awesome reception up there.

The way up is tough, down is much much easier. You should stop every so often on the way up to take photos, the views are amazing. Horseflies, gnats, bees, and flying ants about Midway up that were a little annoying. Minimal shade when you reach a little more than halfway, bring sunscreen and water. Breathtaking views from the top, make sure to sign the hikers log!

Really nice hike, beautiful views! Rocky and steep at the end, but the hike down is a breeze. Lots of switchbacks going up but nothing too steep. Great hike!

Great trail. Not too difficult, we were out and back in 2 hours.

One of our best hikes this trip. Lots of switchbacks get you up and down pretty steadily paced. Steeper at the end, but make sure to go out to the last peak. Views are amazing. About 3 hrs up and back.

Pleasant hike, which climbs severely with a significant elevation. Panoramic view at the top of the surrounding valleys. Very windy at the top.

Great trail with rewarding views at the peak

We enjoyed this hike. Nice to make it to the top of a peak in a short amount of time. The ascent was tougher than I expected with the elevation, downhill was easy. Chilly at the top so bring layers. Trail was in good condition, but upper part was all rock so hiking boots are definitely in order.

Hiked 6/25/19. Just a couple very small snow patches. Nice views along the trail and really nice at the top. Gets steeper during the last half mile but never got truly strenuous.

My wife (40), son (15), and I (51) took this trail on Wednesday June 5, 2019. We called it moderate.... we're Kansas hikers. Mostly uphill with a few level sections going out, opposite coming back. Snow covered the path in a few spots, but it was easy to pass over or go around. The last upward push is a lot of loose flat rocks (scree). It is intimidating, and before you start up, you may think coming down will be harder, but it's not. Take your time. Look for the lighter colored rocks and the path reveals itself.... after that, you're on top with a fantastic view in all directions! Really is a worthwhile hike! There is a communications cabin and antennas at the top. Supposedly, there is a way to keep going to the south and connect with a trail back to the parking lot, but we opted not to take this longer route. On the way down, my son (who likes to hike far ahead of us) and another couple reported a very close grizzly bear. The bear looked at them and went on his way. So carry bear spray! Heard a lot of bear bells amongst the other hikers on the trail. Some locals to whom I reported the bear sighting indicated "grizzlies are like squirrels around here.... get used to it". A very memorable hike.
