First week of June caught us in a surprise hail storm while on this short hike. A cold, but terrific memory. A beautiful view at the top. Flooded, if sudden rains happen, the trail back was flooded and we just slogged through the water. No biggie, but FYI.

Hiked or walked this short easy trail on a sunny Friday afternoon, 10/25/19. The trail had a mix of snow and muddy sections with some icy patches. You don’t really see the colors and full view until you get to the top section where it all comes together in a nice scenic view.

Parking fills up and it tends to be a free for all so it's hit or miss as to whether you get a spot or not. It's about a quarter of a mile down to the boardwalk through some shady trees. The stairs up to the mudpots are pretty steap and rocky so caution to the elderly. The hot springs and mud pots themselves are really cool to look at. About a half hour excursion total.

Well worth seeing, it is an easy trail with some up and down. In the back, up at the top of the trail are two active mud pots that you should make the effort to see. Like all the geyser basins, the sights are like nothing else I've ever seen. The short distance of the hike make it a good hike to shoehorn in before, after or in between other hikes in that area.

Not the most impressive thing around, but a nice and easy trail

short, easy trail with a variety of small geothermal features. Not one of the highlights of the park IMO, but a worthwhile detour if you have the time

Another place you really need to stop and see when visiting Yellowstone. The geological “paint pot” is pretty cool!

This was a fun little loop and offered some variety in the thermo activities with Hot Springs, small geysers, and paint pots. The paint pots at the top did have some thump to them as they shot up 10-15 feet and you could see where it had painted the boardwalk.

This could be my favorite lollipop trail in Yellowstone. Could be the memories of hiking the trail twenty years ago. For a landscape in constant change it was nice to see all the same things again.

It was a great view once you got to the paint pots. But the trail up wasn’t very scenic. There was an unexpectedly beautiful view of the mountains up there. Got a little steep but wasn’t too bad. I liked but wouldn’t need to do it again.

Arrived around 1030am and grabbed one of the last parking spots. Spent about 45 minutes here, and by the time we were done, the parking lot was overflowing and there were cars just idling waiting for a spot. I would recommend getting there early or later in the day. Overall, great quick 1 mile hike, not challenging, and very rewarding views!

Easy walk through the area, although it’s relatively short. Great area and interesting features. There is a boardwalk most of the way and a gravel/rock trail getting to and from the parking lot.

This trail is well worth the little jaunt. The trail is wide and has smooth gravel that leads to a board walk. The view from the top is gorgeous and the mud pot was very close to the board walk so you could get a very close to view the feature.

Amazing sites at the end! Trail partially closed so it wasn’t a loop. Didn’t smell despite the geysers !

Fun to see some interesting geothermal structures. Crowded trail, but worthwhile. Did this loop a few years ago.

Best place to see the paint pots in Yellowstone!

This is an awesome little trail to get a sample of a lot of the wonders of Yellowstone. There are some sections with stairs, which, during our October visit, were caked in ice and really tricky to manage for children. Worth it though!

Such diversity in one park continues to inspire. The paintpots are beautiful and very entertaining to watch.

i surprisingly enjoyed this more than i thought i would, lol. i started out at the old faithful area so maybe by that time i was already geyser'd out since i found the paint pots so bubbly cute! i'd suggest going clockwise (hang to the left) to save the best (mud pots) for last.
