WalkingGreat!

It’s an interesting and unique walk! The path is flat and easy. It loops out into the lake and offers great water views. We saw lots of birds and I’m sure there was more wildlife, but we brought our dog, so that limited what we saw. On a windy day, it would be VERY windy on the outermost part of the trail.

WalkingGreat!

Very easy, well maintained trail! It's fun to be out "on" the lake. It can get pretty windy in some parts, and pretty humid in others so be prepared for a little of both!

Yesterday was glorious day for the trail. I walked it, carrying a pack of fishing equipment (I know; poor time of year for that), and reviewing the road surface to estimate its worthiness for my recumbent bike. It looked like it would be fine for any bike other than a narrow tire road bike. Bees were ubiquitous, harvesting nectar from an assortment of roadside wild flowers. None offered to bite anyone. One of those plants, which was present around the length of the trail, is goosefoot/chenopodium. Some people may experience some allergic reaction. There was a bit of poison ivy slightly off-path on the west end. Bird poop was only slightly dodgy in a couple spots. For fishing, be aware there are weeds on the western portion, but plenty of open areas to facilitate casting around this gorgeous place to forget Covid for awhile. The downside for fishing is that the time top-feeding would be happening is also the time the trail closes, 7:00 PM. The resident gate-keeper is persistent, so don’t think you can sneak past the crusty old cane-leaner. All-in-all, a great unique experience.

Great experience! So other worldly!!! AMAZING!!! Got a bit windy out on the break wall. I had earplugs! Probably too windy for biking even at 10 miles an hour. Jogging also got tuff.

Great bird watching. Blue heron, pelicans, Redwing blackbirds, etc. Interesting trail going out into the lake. Well kept. Very wet today after rain storms and tornado warning. The rain did allow me to have the trail to myself. Great way to enjoy the summer solstice. :-) It closes right on time, so make sure you’re not late getting back to the gate. Donations welcomed.

Great 3 mile loop for an afternoon walk. Flat with very little shade coverage. A large portion of the trail is on a berm on the water so be prepared for strong gusts on a windy day!
