Not too muddy for mid March and a recent dusting of snow. Colder by lake. Saw some wildlife and not too many people. Trails were easy enough to navigate and good for most ages

SnowshoeingGreat!Snow

I went snowshoeing on Feb 21, 2021. Main routes were packed down enough to not need snowshoes, but if you walked a foot or two to the right of the trail there was enough snow to dig in. Not crowded, but there were quite a few families. You can walk over Quarry Lake in areas but you can tell where there is a break in the ice in some spots. Lots of wildlife markings to track.

Blustery and rainy. Parts of the trail were flooded and Lake Michigan loop was closed/ detoured due to erosion. NOTE: open Hunting starts 11/15!!!!

The trail around the Quarry or gorge if you will was lovely. Not very crowded for a Sunday in August. Many different species of trees and wildflowers. Well-maintained and pretty views. Lots of places to find closer to the water or sit on a picnic table or bench. We also walked to a beach to see Lake Michigan. That particular beach was a bit crowded although we didn’t search out any others.

Loved it. Dog and kid friendly. Great mix of terrain between flat quarry side limestone, wooded area, prairie, and sandy lakefront. Very easy, great for a leisurely walk/hike.

Nice, easy trail with tree coverage and grass paths. Those that lead to the beach get busier, but the paths are pretty quiet.

We didn’t do the full trail, only parts. It had rained the night before so there were a few muddy parts. The quarry was picturesque and there were a few folks out fishing. Will return here again to try my luck. Water was high at the beach so we didn’t go on the beach.

I live only a couple miles from here and have walked the quarry lake trail many times. Decided to try the full loop as listed here. The first portion was beautiful but those nasty red winged blackbirds weren't happy I was there. The nature trail portion was muddy. Glad I wore hiking boots. The last part, the Hardwood Swamp trail was very very muddy, so I didn't get all the way around. It is beautiful!!! Lots to see.

Beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. Loved the little natural waterfall at the quarry, that was a highlight for me. Saw deer grazing in the wetlands and fish in the quarry. If you don't have an annual pass or are looking to save money, the trail can be accessed for free by a few spots at the end of Co Rd D (seen on the map). Loved this trail, the water areas are beautiful, easy to traverse. There is a “swamp trail” I’d recommend avoiding, but otherwise it’s great all around.
