Penokee Range is a 10.6 mile out and back trail located near Iron Belt, Wisconsin and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and snowshoeing and is best used from May until October.
This trail is a great hiking trail, however, its primarily used for x-country skiing. It runs east-west starting at weber lake, ending at Hoyt road. Not for beginners, elevation changes are steep at times. The main trail, named by locals as Uller trail, is also a completed segment of the NCT. It also contains a "spur" known as "Krankkala spur", running north south to Iron Belt. This spur can be hard to navigate unless you are familiar with the system. Be prepared, Uller trail runs through remote wilderness.
