Great trail for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. We walk this trail from Elroy towards Camp Douglas year round. Love all the wildlife. We’ve been watching an eagles nest for a couple years now. No place better to exercise and regenerate.

Omaha Trail is about 75-80% paved, but it’s pretty rough in spots. I rode it with a touring bicycle equipped with 700x28c tires. I would not recommend it for road bikes and small tires. Big tires okay. The section near the tunnel is very muddy. Great trail for running or walking your dog though.

I only did the first 3 miles, out and back. Once you make your right turn on Eddy street, the trailhead is behind you. Plenty of trees for shade in the summer, at least in those 3 miles. Mostly paved, no need for hiking boots if you have comfortable shoes or sandals. Several places for the 4-legged pals to get a drink. Looks like the Camp Douglas end has adult beverage and food opportunities. I'll come back and do another section.

It's paved...at least the section I ran. But it's decent and right off the highway so it's super convenient to the interstate travelers
