Favorite light hike to take my 5 year old on. Quite a few options to add a little distance to.

Crowded on weekends, especially in summer.

Beautiful views along the whole trail-Would disagree that it is lightly trafficked, at least when I was there it was pretty people heavy.

Ran a 50 mile endurance race on the trail. Dances with Dirt Devil's Lake, Running Fit put the race on. Also stayed at the Devil's Head resort. Great run, decent lodging. Cute downtown near by. The scenery in the mountains was beautiful, great pay offs.
