Don’t start at Milton, the south point on the trail (which is where the pin drops if you use the location marker in this site). You’ll have many miles right next to the highway in full sun. Once you cross the county line heading north, it’s a mix of shade and sun heading into Fort Atkinson. Too much of the trail is right up against the highway for my taste. We rode bikes and went as far as the river in Fort Atkinson, turning around at that point made it about a 25 mile ride. I would rate this ride as easy, not moderate. I would take this trail again but I would start at the north end, and turn around at the county line/covered bridge, which might be a better experience.
