I love this trail! It’s moderate and has such pretty views. I recommend taking the east bluff trail to go up and then the woods to come back down or you can just take the same way back along the lake! Would definitely recommend!

Very nice trail. We did the woods side first (clockwise) to make the inclines a little more gradual

Went on a Monday summer morning. There are some nice inclines and rock formation. Great for casual weekender beginners to intermediate hikers

Beautiful trail. Light traffic on a Monday n October. They could invest in signage! So poorly marked....

Perfect little hike. We went uphill (steep at times) on the East Bluff Trail which had gorgeous lake views and plenty of big rocks to hang out to admire the view, and then went downhill (moderate slope) on the East Bluff Woods Trail which was wide and lovely, with several benches toward the trail head to sit along the creek to relax. We showed up at 7:30 AM and saw very few people the entire time.

There's nothing about this trail that I didn't love. It was challenging, exhilarating and tiring, and the payoffs, which were many, were all worth the work.

Arrived at 9am on a Sunday and the park was virtually empty. The side closest to the water is the East bluff trail and it is a pretty rough climb, but not unmanageable - it can get narrow on parts of the rock-stairs. Beautiful views at the top and there are multiple “look out” points easily accessible from the trail to overlook the whole park. The side further from the lake is the East bluff woods trail and is much more moderate with a steady incline on rocks/gravel with only a few steep spots. Trail is much wider and very well shaded, no views of the lake but a nice nature walk. I would definitely recommend starting on the Woods trail for a steady incline up and then use the Bluff trail to go downhill on the “hard side.” By the time I got back down to the parking lot (11am) it was pretty much full. Get here early to enjoy the quiet. Otherwise overrun with families and teens.

Would have given 5 stars but some of the trails are not well marked. We headed up East Bluff Trail but missed our turn to go down East Bluff Woods trail initially. Easily walked more than a mile off on another much more challenging trail which would have been great if we had more time. The views are amazing of the lake and the woods trail offers wonderful scenery as well. Mostly shaded and no bugs! Definitely recommend going down East Bluff Woods trail versus up. It is wide but mostly lose gravel and is pretty much all sloped so going down it was enough of a challenge to keep your feet securely underneath you. On the way up lots of spots to overlook the lake and do some small scale rock climbing.

I absolutely love Devil's Lake and love this trail. Do it every time I come here! Hike early (~6am) in the summer (especially on the weekends) to avoid crowds.
