Crystal Ridge Loop is a 2.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Franklin, Wisconsin that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Well traveled in the snow. Fairly easy to see where the trail is.
Lots of bugs! Bring bug spray for sure and I would also recommend bringing either a dog friendly bug repellant or a bandana to cover dog ears. Trails were well kept but pretty muddy. There were quite a few bikers on the trails as well which made the mud a bit worse. Would definitely go back but with boots this time!!
Probably would've rated higher were it not for the swarms or skeeter and flies and much of the trail a muddy mess from last nights rain. Maybe in the fall. Not another should crazy enough to be out there in this heat.
Would not recommend going the whole loop after a heavy rainfall. By the River is completely flooded. Also hard to follow trail towards the beginning because of all the mountain bike paths. Don’t get discouraged by the paths. Still a fun easy trail
I found this trail on the app and took my dog for what I thought would be a slightly strenuous morning hike. This is more of a nature walk than a hike, very easy with clearly defined paths which get narrow at some points, particularly at the north end, as it is mainly a mountain biking trail. The bugs were intense despite being sprayed and covered. Also very poor trail etiquette from others, a couple of ladies had very poorly socialized dogs they could barely control. It was pretty, but I wouldn't return, mainly due to the bugs and the people.
It gets you close to the river if you want and it does allow you to be in the woods, to get away from the city. Muddy when it rains, and a little after, but if you’re prepared, it’s nice.
This is designed for mountain bikes, but I didn’t see any. A bit muddy in spots, but nothing that’s too difficult to get around. This trail is pretty awesome and really quiet and peaceful. Lots to look at and overall very good.
This looks like an absolutely beautiful trail, but I had to turn around a few times because it was so muddy.
