This historic trail, a segment of the North Country National Scenic Trail, may be the oldest in Wisconsin. It was in use by Native Americans in 1680, when European explorers began using it. The trail is mostly unchanged today, save for plaques which remember historic figures who used the trail. It is in use year round, for hiking and snowshoeing.
