Rode it from Sturgeon Bay to Algoma, there’s a great bakery in Algoma located north of the river close to the harbor to refresh, decided to return to Sturgeon Bay on mostly parallel roads for variety, proceed north out of Algoma on county S and lean right along the lakeshore on county U and then Lake Michigan drive for several spectacular farm to water views, this return route is one of the most beautiful routes in all of WI, wiggle your way back over several marked roads back to the Sturgeon Bay trailhead. Flat as a griddle iron out, and rolling hills on the roads back. Good workout! I logged 38 miles doing this way and did not cross another biker; only 2 hikers! Go on, try something a little different and see the region. Southern Door and northern Kewaunee are overlooked by most travelers and locals seeking the DoorCo experience; this trail and alternate return will really surprise you.

Easy walking being a railroad grade. Also why I took a star off. Hard walking. Obviously not much anyone would do about it but not my cup of tea

We have ridden almost every Rail Trail in the state but oddly enough never did this one until this August. It's a nice trail with lots of wildlife (we had cranes a few feet in front of us at times) and the North parking lot in Sturgeon bay is well more than average marked. There is enough loose gravel that road bikes would not be appropriate here...cross or mountain bikes would be best. A criticism we had was that there wasn't a single sign in the lot indicating where the trail started. it looked like it might start to the right, which we tried, and it led us right into Sturgeon bay and petered out. One sign in the parking lot pointing to the left would have made a load of difference.

nice trail would be better if they did not allow horses. the trail is pretty bumpy and tore up a bit from horses walking on it wet..other than that its an easy 30 mile ride..
