This trail is NOT EASY. There is a lot of uphill, it’s very rocky, and the trails aren’t that well marked. Personally I don’t recommend it unless you’re ready for a 4-5 hour hike that is pretty strenuous. That said, it is a pretty area and we didn’t see anybody else on the trail. Again just don’t underestimate the difficulty of this trail. Also very buggy and ticky.

Not sure I would say it's easy. There are some decent uphill ascents. Not strenuous but more than a stroll. Nice forest scenery. Bugs weren't bad either. Definitely worth doing again in a different season.

We wound up making a modified loop and coming back on one of the park roads as we hadn't packed enough water to do the full 7.5 miles.

The state park is great.

Just a spur of the moment hike in a place we have never gone before. A fairly moderate hill to get started but all easy from there. Enjoyed it enough to try a few more trails in the area in the future.

It was a very nice, easy, peaceful trail. We saw some deer just lounging around and there was plenty of beautiful scenery in the woods. I recommend this trail if you just want a calm, peaceful walk through the forrest.

A nice hardwood forest trail with sandstone outcroppings and boulders from which wildlife may be observed. Many flowering shrubs and wildflowers in season, but I missed all that in the cold weather. A crag overlooks Sleepy Creek Valley.

Nice park and nice staff. Choose from hiking, biking, horseback, golf, dining and much more. Some of the trails are loop and some are out and back. All are well maintained. Be sure to stay on marked trails because there are hidden cliff edges.

I love the trails here! Going to try to jog this one next time!

I've hiked this trail many times and is a short, quick hike if you are pressed for time. We completed it in about 50 minutes and that was with 10 or so minutes at the top sitting on the rocks. Only 300' elevation gain, so it gets the blood flowing and then you are the top, so not too difficult of an incline. What bothers me most about this trail is it takes you near a small shale pit right in the middle of the park. They should've put the shale pit elsewhere because it detracts from the natural beauty and serenity of the trail.
