HikingGreat!

Really pretty hike where you are parallel to the river the whole time. Not sure why it's rated as hard. It was a well maintained, generally wide trial, with a very gradual incline.

Great day!! We arrived at 9am and were the first cars in the lot. Recommend staying at the campground, it is a walkable distance. We were a bit confused as to where the trail ended. So we just turned around at Kate’s Fall. Stopped by the swimming hole on the way back to cool off. And there were no rattlesnakes in sight

Beautiful trail, well maintained. As someone else stated in a review a few months we also saw a huge timber rattlesnake along the edge of the path. Be aware and enjoy the hike.

Wow! A little less than a mile in, is a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. Steady grade elevation and trail is well maintained. Would grade it moderate, but not hard. Want to come back and finish the whole trail.

Entered the trail on the south end. Get there by following signs from I-64 to Little Beaver State Park. There is a sign before you get to the park that directs you to Glade Creek Trail. Dirt and gravel road to the bottom but the road is in good shape. Not sure about when it is raining though. The trailhead parking is great and the trail is just spectacular. Normal amount of bugs for this time of year. A little bug spray helped. Trail is clear with no weeds. Runs along Glade Creek all the way. We did two miles down and back. Highly recommend the little side trail to Kate’s Falls. Just a short hike to the falls.

Beautiful trail! Days of rain had the creek running strong and fast with many little side falls running into it. Also made many spots on the trail wet, sloppy and muddy. We loved it. Took the side hike to Kate’s falls, a must-see. A great all day hike. We packed a lunch and ate riverside. Plenty of spots along the River for exploring, pictures and enjoying the views. On our way back we did encounter a huge timber rattlesnake. It warned us with its rattle and then slithered into the woods. Bring a camera and plan to spend all day on this gorgeous trail

Awesome flat trail with amazing scenery along Glade Creek. Make sure you detour off to see the falls. Parking at the southern end is sparse and requires a four wheel drive.

Good day hike with some nice swimming holes and water falls . Just runs along the river so nothing super exciting on the trail but access to the river is awesome.

Great waterfall 5 miles up. pretty Rocky and can get muddy. water proof ankle high shoes suggested if wet. poles are handy for wading through the swampy bits. mosquitoes are around but weren't crazy with bug spray. plenty of great views and the incline is very gradual. primitive campsites found along the trail. You could make this a multi-day trip by following trails at the end of this one.

The Glade Creek trail can only be the first leg of the trip. The trail feeds into 2 other trails not on this map. If you look at my trek, you can see it goes further. That being said. It’s a bit harder. But worth the extra effort. It can be a 3 day trip no problem. Glade Creek I seen several people, but on the other 2 I didn’t see a soul. So if that’s what you’re looking for try it. (That’s what I wanted).

Backpacking

The camping location we used is definitely the best group spot on the trail, lots of single site locations too. Doesn't seem to see a lot of overnight camping, only negative is the campsites are really close to the trail.

Nice trail, I logged 11.6 roundtrip miles starting from the trailhead near I-64 and hiking all the way to the waters edge of the New River, this mileage included the spur trail to Kate's Falls. There were a few trees down but not hard to get around or over. The trail was also a little muddy and slippery but nothing extreme! Met a few other hikers on the trail and enjoyed stopping and chatting with them for a few minutes. The rating for this trail is no where near hard. The trail is fairly level with a slight grade with a few places where you climb up and over rock outcroppings, but again, nothing extreme. The rating on this trail needs to be changed to moderate but it would be a very low moderate, I will see what I can do to edit the rating. Happy trails fellow hikers!
