Blackwater Falls Overlook is a 0.2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Davis, West Virginia that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
You will enjoy beautiful views of the Blackwater Falls from the boardwalk overlook at the end of this short trail. Accessibility: There are do not appear to be any designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of Blackwater Lodge Road at the east end of the trail. The trail surface is a wooden boardwalk with railings and typically at least 4 feet wide. The estimated grade is gentle (3% or less). This trail will likely be navigable for most trail goers using wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers.
Diverse views of nature as you hike this loop. Be warned, however, that the last leg of this loop is simply a walk along the road back to the lodge.
Short walk to overlook. There were less people on this path compared to the Blackwater Falls option.
Great trail with lots of tree roots and rocks so pay attention where you are placing your feet. The yellow trail got a bit confusing at times but it’s all marked and there is an area that we questioned if we should cross but you see the yellow mark so we were on the right path. 5.4 miles total and very relaxing!
I’m a seasoned hiker, the trail wasn’t clear and I got lost for a bit of the way. Apart from that, it’s pretty except for the trails that makes you walk on roads?
