Fun place for families; easy little walk from the parking lot for a great view of the falls. There's another nice overlook on the other side of the park, from a higher vantage point. Both are worth stopping for. Keep driving around the park and you'll encounter several nice waterfall views, trailheads for more legitimate hiking trails, and likely several very friendly deer waiting to be fed by tourists (don't do it!). Overall, a very picturesque park filled with mature rhododendrons and evergreen trees.

A beautiful short hike to see the waterfall. A nice way to stretch our legs after the 3.5 hour drive to WV - enjoy the scenery, then go on one of the other trails for a longer hike

This is a beautiful state park where the main attraction is the waterfalls at the head of the gorge but with several viewing overlooks nearby. Follow the park signs to the falls and park in the paved parking lot. You'll hear the falls from there. Walk to the lowest point of the parking lot where you'll see the trail leading down to the falls. Although it's a gradual descent, there are stairs so it's not handicapped accessible. However, there is a handicapped accessible viewpoint near the lodge on the north side or the gorge. The trail down to the falls is a long set of wooden steps providing several good viewpoints for photography. The lowest viewing area is near the base of the falls where you'll feel the mist. Other viewpoints along the gorge include Pendleton Point (paved parking lot with 1 minute walk to view), behind the Blackwater Lodge (3 minute walk to view), and Lindy Point Overlook (15 minute walk to the view). This is an excellent park for those who like waterfalls and gorge views but can't or don't want to walk very far.

my gps went down as i came within thirty miles out, and so i had to rely on my instincts.

which meant i stopped and asked for directions. but, awesome place.

and there's definitely an interesting read listed on the little kiosk they have just before the water fall.
