My wife and I hiked part of this trail last month. Started from the Hurricane Ridge visitor center and hiked downhill for a few hours then turned around and came back. Saw several deer. A few places with downed trees to go over (or under) plus some muddy areas. Nice hike in the woods. Very private-did not see anyone else on trail. Only minus is lack of a view of the mountains.

After driving four hours to access this trail, we were not able to reach the trailhead because the road was closed. Not a big deal; I was willing to take an alternate route and do another hike nearby. That’s not why am giving this one star. We were stopped by a trail Nazi who informed me that dogs aren’t allowed on the trails. She was nice about it, and just doing her job. But seriously? How do you restrict dogs from hiking trails? That’s just ridiculous.

This is a great trail!! Trailhead is about a half mile past the hurricane ridge visitors center, on the day we hiked it the Whiskey road end trailhead was not accessible so we hiked down from hurricane ridge and then back up. Parts of the trail especially down by Whiskey road were over grown and there were several downed trees along the way but nothing out or the ordinary. Definitely pack a lunch and enjoy the seclusion, we didn’t see anyone for 6 hours.
