Standard beach so that is why I gave it a 3 star. It is a nice easy winter walk area for sure though. One tiny section had a lot of washed up sand dollars (mostly dead ones) which was interesting. Otherwise not a ton of people along the way just at the opposite end where people try to surf.
wife and I walked from the lighthouse to downtown westport. the trail winds through grass and bushes. wide and fully paved. lots of benches, each one in memory of some departed. on the hike back, we took the beach. got some shells and rocks. watch surfers try to ride the waves. go to the fish shack in town!! food is awesome. order the chowder in sourdough bowl!
We went on a Sunday around 11 am and had the beach almost to ourselves! We left around 1 and there were still hardly any people! The trail is paved and very nice, but we really just stayed on the beach with our dogs playing fetch and swimming. What a beautiful hidden gem!
Dog friendly and easy walk along the coastline. Make sure to walk up the observation tower and take in the views. After the tower, walk down to the marina and if you’re lucky you’ll see seals and sea lions taking a nap.
Nice flat and paved trail. Great for kids, dogs, elderly and handicapped accesible.
