Good trail with nice views of the lake. Trilliums in bloom in the narrow trails headed East. 4/25/20

Walked around the lake loop and then walked through the off dirt trails. Lots of side trails. Walked a total 5 miles. Great room for space and social distancing. Parking is open and accessible. My dog had fun. The adjacent dog park is open too.

There wasn’t any particular trail we followed but we took a lot of little side trails and hopped on and off the main trail. Will definitely visit again.

Whoever made this official trail didn’t do a very good job. It’s not very accurate. Hopefully I got a purple verification badge because it was hard to stay on the trail. Such a beautiful place though, so I gave it four stars :). I still got 4.2 miles out of this even without being on the actual trail. So much wildlife and plant life for an urban hike. Nice hills too :)

Fun, easy and plenty of routes/off-shoots to take. Great place to bring a dog, especially with the dog park adjacent. Views of mountains and lake make for photo opportunities. Plenty of plaques to learn about the history of Ft. Steilacoom and Western State Hospital. Don't forget to check out the cemetery of those who were hospitalized or worked at the old institution.

Nice easy flat sections, but there are a couple decent inclines to give you just enough of a challenge. Only downside I saw was at one point there were so many different paths that it was difficult to choose the correct path. Overall, pretty good, I’d run it again. I should also note, I ran the length of Steilacoom-Dupont road, down and back, to tack on an extra 2 miles to the overalll coarse.

The trails alltrails wants you to follow at times are not there. Its pretty hard to follow it exactly regardless, you'll find lots of forks in the trials leading you different directions. Once you get closer to the community college the trails are more enjoy. They're good sections with out any shade so bring a hat.

Great paved trail around the lake but plenty of more improvised gravel paths leading off that.Great place for dogs.Hard to follow one specific 4 mile continuous trail so you can’t really follow app too closely.

Pretty fun trail, but if you follow this app exactly, you will be lost. Follow some of the more well laid out routes and you will be fine and it will be fairly close to what is on the app. Good hike, lots to see. Unfortunately there is no good view of the lake from this trail. If you want to see a good view of the lake, you have to do the actual Waughop lake trail. Several Amenities such as one of the largest off leash dog parks I’ve seen, children’s playground, baseball fields, etc. There are also some historic barn structures on the grounds that are neat to see. Right across the way from Western State Hospital, this is a pretty great place to hike. Definitely recommend it.

This hike is really nice and simple. It should be rated as easy. Beautiful weather. Parts of the trail is unshaded ehile other parts are. Cool breeze. Definitely a trail for lovers. Super dog friendly. My dog loved this trail!

Not too bad for a metropolitan area trail... This review is an update. After coming here for the second time, I found some more trails that were a little more moderate and just a little more challenging. This is what I was looking for. This is actually a pretty big park and you may not discover it all the first time you come. I think, generally, the area seems pretty safe too. I'll definitely come back again if I get the chance.

While the paved path around the lake was nice, the trails for the rest of the path were pretty hard to navigate. Lots of forks without signage, and I had a hard time pinpointing where to go just using my phone GPS. Felt like I wasn't going the right way for a lot of it.

not really a "hike". it's a walk around a lake that has a paved trail it leads too. very bland.
