Great trail! Very well marked and maintained. Went up on Jan 3rd. Conditions were rainy at times and the trail was muddy in spots, but very manageable. Incline can be challenging but there are spots to rest on benches if needed. At the top of the trail there is an additional 1 mile out and back for a look out. HIGHLY recommend!

This was a nice physical hike. About a two mile incline the way we took the loop at the beginning -the waterfall area was beautiful. Little muddy but not bad.

Completed several weeks ago. Great views. Went on a nice clear day and it wasn't to difficult. Could prove to be difficult it rain or snow.

Went on 11/15. Not muddy. This was a great hike. Dog loved it! Ou get to spend a lot of time walking along the creek. We did go up to the look out which was beautiful. Depending on you fitness level if it’s worth it, it up the whole mile. The day was cloudy but we did get a few sun breaks. We incorporated the big creek campground loop as well. In all my Garmin said we went over 7 miles

Amazing and well maintained trail. The 1-mile extension to the lookout is worth it if you would like a scenic view.

Went today 11/2/19. Weather was perfect, trail Was Dry and not slippery at all. The views of Mt. Washington and Eleanor were fantastic as was all the water access. Well worth it.

Went there today 10/26/19, 50 degrees, partly cloudy. Trail was dry. Friendly people and dogs on the trail. Great way to spend the afternoon. I suggest hiking it counter-clockwise in the afternoon; better views of the surrounding mountains.

We hiked this trail 10/19. It is a nice trail with occasional views and several creek crossings. It is well marked. You can access the loop from the parking lot or the campground. Very enjoyable if you only want to hike an hour or 2.

Beautiful trail through the forest. Very well groomed trail with lots of signs marking the way. Very mossy, green and quiet. Only 4.3 miles, upward climb a little challenging, not bad though since the point of hiking is to get some exercise! We would definitely hike this trail again. Check the weather at Hoodsport to know if you will run into rain before you go.

Very beautiful trail! The moss and fern covered forest of our childhood imaginations. I took a few divergences to the creek confluence to sit by the water and let the dog take a dip.

Completed this trail on 8/17/19. Well traveled trail, that leads to multiple other trails if you have the time. It begins with a steep incline for about 1.5 miles then you peak out and slowly make your way down. I went on a cloudy day and cool day but the trail has lots of shade, a few bridges. Pay attention to the trail signs or you might end up on another trail. If you’re looking for a trail to take you to a clearing for pics, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a good hike, then this is it. Lots of good spots for pics along the trails. Saw several dogs on the trail, so if you have a dog or dogs that love the outdoors this is for them.

Great 2 hour workout in the woods, other than that, not much to see other than the forest and a couple of creeks under bridges

Beautiful trail! Lots of bridges with water runoff and small waterfall. There's a big climb in beginning part of the trail that'll get your heart pumpin'. Nice bench rest stops periodically along the trail.

Beautiful little waterfalls and little bridges.

This was a fun hike. The uphill trek was rough, but doable. You go uphill no matter which way you start, we went counterclockwise and it seemed the better option. I liked all the bridges and there were some really pretty trees. Would definitely recommend.

Great chill hike. Not super scenic if looking for great vistas. We did go up an extra mile to the lookout point that is on the sign at the top of the loop. That was well worth the extra mile up, even tho steeper. A nice view from a clearing up there. Look for the sign that points to the left that says “RVIEW” (part of sign was broken off).

went counterclockwise, got most of the vertical done first.

We went clockwise on the loop. Waterfalls, bridges and forest. The loop connects with a trail to get to a viewpoint (about another 2.8 miles out & back), but worth the additional time if you’re not in a hurry. There was nearly no one else on the trail until mid afternoon as we were leaving. Thought it would be more crowded for a Friday in July.

mostly boring. go counter clockwise and turn around at the bridge for maximum enjoyment

Loved this one, we took the entrance to the right which from what I saw looks like the easier way to go. Most of the elevation gain was in the first portion making the mid portion fairly easy, tons of gorgeous bridges and river views. We took the trail at the top to the Mt Ellinor view point, it was a steep hike to the top and so foggy we couldn’t see past the first tree line but was still worth the effort. It didn’t rain much but was 87% humidity that day you really felt like you were in the rain forest dense and lush green moss everywhere.

We loved the hike. We went clockwise which was a steep straight incline vs a steep decline at the end which I prefer. I love bridges. Went on Saturday at 11 and it was not crowded and managed to get parking too. Great day, glad my kids and dog are still willing to hike with their old mom.

Awesome way to get the weekend started. We went clockwise up the mountain and highly recommend going that way. The way down was a smidge steeper but the flora and fauna were very generic compared to the way up. I personally like to be distracted by pretty things and views when I’m breathing hard.

This was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday! We were not the only ones on the trail it is true, but it certainly wasn’t crowded. Pit toilets are open at the parking lot/trailhead. The trail is very well maintained with no downed trees to mention. Not much water in the certain spots of the creek- but very beautiful and serene. Plenty of benches along the way for a rest or just to enjoy the view. We did not go up the Ellinore trail but hope to go back on a clear day for what is said to be a killer view. It is steep I won’t lie- but it is doable for any level hiker- slow and steady will get you there! We went clockwise - going up steeper but coming down more gradually. Take the trail marked confluence trail for the small falls and many bridges. Many nice spots for a picnic lunch on your hike. With several short stops for photos and our explorative lunch, we spent 3.5-4 hours. Perfect half day adventure in Sheltons backyard!
