This trail is 13.6 miles round trip, not 10.6. The last mile and a half is rough.

Went a little too early in the season. Arrived in the parking on a beautiful sunny day and started at the tunnel creek trail head. Hiked all the way up tunnel creek to pct trail junction to find lots of snow, somewhat melted but still covering all the trail. Decided to hike on south, to the best of our abilities with poor cell phone gps. Got another mile and a half up a ridge and into more wooded area before deciding to turn back due to snow covered trail. Truly was a wet winter! Will definitely come back later in the season to try to get to more lakes!

Beautiful setting with lakes backed by rocky peaks. I started at the Tunnel Creek TH and hiked up to the PCT junction. From there headed south to Trap Pass. From the pass there is a boot path heading south that starts through the trees before quickly breaking out onto a rocky ridge that leads all the way to the lakes. Just a couple of small snow patches that are easily crossed. If you lose the trail just follow along the ridge and you will eventually pick it up again. Several scrambling opportunities at the lakes such as Nimbus Peak, Thunder Mountain, and Thor Mountain. A few weekend backpackers were heading down as I was heading up so only a few people remained at the upper lake. One of my favorite hikes this year
