Hiked it July 16. Beginning is still completely snowed in. Since I haven't done it before I had done trouble finding my way with all the snow, but eventually my micro spikes got me through the uphill snow field and to the switchbacks.

At the switchbacks the snow disappeared and the going was much easier, albeit straight up through rugged rock. Beautiful views of Baker as you're ascending.

Once on top there are 360 degree views of Baker, Shuksan, and many other beautiful things in every direction. I was competent enveloped in blue snowmelt ponds, snowy mountains, sheer cliffs, and so on.

To continue past the top it requires micro spikes to be put back on so I could do some ridge hiking to explore. Only saw two other people the three hours or so I was on the hike.

so couldn't do any hikes because there was so much snow, but roads clear and open. we wandered around a while looking for a trailhead but no luck, had my 1 year old and 8 year old so wasn't going to chance it. talked to a women at the visitor center, she said at least 2 or 3 more weeks til it's clear. the views from the parking lot were amazing so cant wait to go back.

The road to Artist Point is cleared of snow but the gate is still locked shut so you can walk the 2.7 mile up to the point but apparently no driving up there until July sometime. Hopefully before the 4th.

From artist point to the summit, you have about a 1 mile hike up. The trail is marked, barely, but it's rugged and fun. breathtaking views of Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan, a lake and the Ski Area.

This hike needs to be combined with another hike to earn the five stars as its a long drive to Baker for a short hike. Leave about 2.5 hours for this hike and explore the terrain up top. You need to wander and explore. Its a three star hike if you hike up and down.

Seriously beautiful views. Turned around at about the halfway point because it was a bit much for kids under 10. Fragrant flowers and snow capped mountains make this picture perfect.

Not a bad trail for some great views of Mt. Shuksan & Mount Baker! The Switchbacks are fun!

This trail has awesome switchbacks going right up to the ridge line. To see Baker and Shuksan so open is amazing. This trail is so beautiful. The trail and the view are something a person must see before they leave this earth!!!

This is a great "bang for the buck" hike. Doesn't take too long, but gives you excellent views from the top. We also enjoyed the elaborate rock pile artistry that was present at the top when we were there. If you are up at Artists Point for just a short visit, give this hike your consideration.

Did this one last September, which is the perfect time to do it, if the snow melt has been sufficient! Getting up there is a bit unsettling, so best not to do with dogs or children, but the view from the top is worth every heartbeat skip. A full 360 degree panoramic view of not just Baker, Shuksan and the surrounding peaks, but on a very clear day you can even see Rainier off in the distance!
