Great trail for an easy hike. Well-maintained and varied. Signage across the bridge could be improved to say “Staircase Rapids Loop” instead of “To Ranger” as it’s unclear without looking at the map that you should follow the right instead of continuing left to complete the loop.

lovely trail that goes on a loop. I feel it's best done counter clockwise, the trail keys little kids engaged with lots of streams, bridges to see. expect heavy crowds and waiting to park your car. it's a nice walk overall, once you earn up you can do the wagon wheel hike next to this one.

Ok first 4 miles is flat but rocky. Once you get to the Flapjack trail it’s 4 miles straight up 3250 elevation gain rocky creek bed for a trail all the way. Two beautiful waterfalls on the way up. Made it to Flapjack lakes. We headed on another mile and half another elevation gain of 2500 . Good views of the rock formations. Some snow at the top but no problem. This hike is not for the weak definitely a hard hike. Great day not to hot or cold worth every mile

Great trail for families and this looking for lighter hikes; my 3 and 6yo didnt have issues walking it - good hike for kiddos; path is well maintained with gravel and a decent amount of roots/rocks along trail; suspension bridge is very nice and well made; only one bridge with log crossing/single railing to keep closer eye on little ones (only 2-3 ft off stream) which was near the end of the trail (ford crossing option as well); a few signs on trail but would be nice to have better markings as to distances and defining destinations as there are a few forks (one early to a dead-end with big cedar tree root tipped over); lots of shade along route with a few bugs (not an issue even without bugspray); bathrooms open with hand sanitizer and trash bins nearby; beautiful forest/river rapid views

Beautiful trail through old growth with river views and the sound of rushing water. The little waterfall off to the side of the trail is a lovely plus! Lot's of people, the swimmers at Lake Cushman were thick enough to block the way to the park. Very disturbing considering we are supposed to be social distancing at this point. The trail gets 5 stars, took one away because I will not be back until after virus threat is over.

it is $30 dollars for the day at the ranger Station. there is a lookout area so you can see the suspension bridge. keep eye on little kids as there is no rail. it was a good hike/walk. we started backwards at the over flow parking lot and went to the sign that said rapids bridge. and started that way and ended at the last bridge that comes out by the bathrooms and camping. bring water. watch for rocks and roots.

A great hiking trail to do with family and friends. Beautiful views and fun paths like walking over suspension bridges and/or wooden bridges above the rushing Skokomish River. Great opportunities to be next to the river.

Great hike for smaller kids! My 4 year old had no issues. Lots of little side Trips to see the river and creeks feeding it. He really loved the big bridge. Trail was in good repair, just a little muddy in spots from all the rain this week. A little crowded due to the nice weather but camp site still closed.

Very little snow in the way of the trail, only a little remaining in the last steep half mile to flapjack lakes. Perfectly wonderful weekend hike, on the first day of the National Park opening back up.

We were ready for potholes on the road but there were road machinery filling in the pot holes. They were working all morning. Roads are good! We got there at 7am. Road is closed 1 mile from the trailhead. So the hike was 4.5 miles roundtrip. There was one blow down tree that I went under and my husband climbed over. Other than that the trail is in pretty good condition. We had our face masks ready but we were the only ones on the trail until the end. Please please please don’t park where there are signs that say No Parking. There is a little parking area 0.1 miles away from that gate. Josilhouette on Instagram

Love this trail. Not to miss if you’re in the area. Great swimming hole, freezing in June. Almost couldn’t find it after years of being there from the fallen trees.

The road to the trailhead is NOT closed as the note above says, however there are many potholes for about a 5-mile stretch before getting to the newly paved road at the park entrance. The trail has been improved recently and was perfect for hiking with the 6 year old today. At one point, a large tree fell over the path, but most people could crawl under or over it. I'm sure it will be removed soon. This is one of our favorite family hikes.
