This is not a trail it's a road

This is a busy two-lane road. Not a trail. Although it is a very pretty drive, I don’t feel this should be included in a trail app.

Pretty drive with a couple pull off areas for viewpoints. Great for all seasons when the roads aren't closed. Watch out for critters when driving at night.

Great drive along Hwy 504 with anticipation as Mt. St. Helens was "smokin" and there had been a 3.1 magnitude earthquake the day before. Can even see it from the Silver Lake VC early down the road. Really nice scenery along the way, with evidence of the eruption. Don't forget to visit both sides, Windy Ridge (Hwy 99) and Johnston Ridge and watch the video at the VC.

Well,
It's a scenic drive, not a trail! So it'll take you to trails.

Beautiful drive! Can't help but stop and take in the view of the giant crater of Mt St Helens. The observatory at Johnston Ridge at the very end of the road was closed with a road block gate right after Hummock's trail and Coldwater Lake. But there are trails at both of those areas you can explore. No dogs allowed on either of those trails though which was a bummer.
Will definitely go back in early summer.

I've always enjoyed taking this highway for a Sunday drive. If your hobby is geocaching this is a fantastic trip. Many visitor centers opened in the summer with many places to stop and picnic. A great drive to see the rebirth of the ecosystem post eruption.
