Getting There

Note: There are several different unofficial paths that lead down to Spirit Falls. Some trails cross private property and some do not. Please be respectful and do not enter private lands unless authorized. Practice Leave No Trace principles and pack out what you pack in. This route can get very steep and slippery, so it is not suited for children. Once down the trail, you'll find an absolutely beautiful waterfall. Be prepared to get muddy! The start is now about 100 yards before mile 2 marker, and is not well marked.

Parking Tip: Once you turn off Riverside Highway and head north into the hills, watch out for the bend with the Mile 2 Marker. You will also see some rocks lined up blocking off a mini meadow. About 100 yards before this marker is a pull-off where you can park. Then just proceed up into the gravel area that runs along the private land to the overlook where you can see the Columbia. There is a trail that leads down and to the left. It's pretty clearly marked all the way down and it never seemed to actually cross into private land if you go this way.

Probably one of the prettiest falls I have ever seen. Beautiful!! Getting there Google Maps took us to a small parking area that only fits 2 - 3 cars. If your back is facing the road you want to take the rocky trail you see on the RIGHT that you see goes DOWN. Google Maps said it was 200 feet to falls. Trail is steep so trekking poles help. Regarding past reports, this is my own personal feeling - I do not feel this trail felt "dangerous". I am a moderate hiker and have done trails this steep. Also NO signs anywhere saying to keep out as others may have seen in past. Gorgeous falls, short and steep, quite the workout but worth it! This is truly a gem for ALL to enjoy. But also be respectful - stay on path, don't litter etc. Gorgeous place!

Unsafe and closed fire danger. Extremely steep and has do not enter signs. It is extremely dangerous with large stones on your path and steep. Do not go.

This hike is closed and should be removed from All Trails. It is unsafe and I see ambulances and police there often because of people getting hurt and possibly dying. Extremely unsafe for children or basically just everyone. The waterfall is pretty but not worth the danger to see it. Do not do this hike.

The trail is short and steep. I have been here at different times of the year and late spring is the most picturesque. If you struggle climbing long flights of stairs, you will struggle on the way out.

It was amazing! I would take gloves because it was a hard hike and I had to hold on to the ground, branches or rocks to be able to complete this hike. Going down was the hardest. Be careful because the sheriff department shows up, at the moment there is a fire warning sign and you cannot do this hike. So another words it’s closed, avoid it unless you want a citation or jail time. Good luck! I would take gloves next time. And you can swim, you just need to go a little farther up. Water is ice cold.

Hard hike. we had 2 children and they made it but they had to actually work hard to do it. You can't swim in the waterfall area which bummed us out. The waterfall is breath taking. we are all happily sore afterwards.

This trail is VERY steep and somewhat treacherous in some spots. Many folks were turning around today. Dress appropriately (no flip flops) and go slowly. The waterfall is stunning.

This hike is doable for any folks willing to take their time, it does get pretty steep at times but it's easy to crab walk/hold on to trees for the most part. We had search and rescue performing drills at the trail-head when we first got there, which was fortunate because three knuckleheads decided to jump off the falls and one guy got stuck in the cavern from the current. Do not jump in the falls - even if you see it on youtube.
