I left a review for Valhalla lake but this is what we actually did. It was neat knowing that we were on the PCT after recently reading the book "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed.

Smithbrook Trail has hundreds of trees blocking the early sections up to the PCT, so it is tough going right now. But the PCT is clear and beautiful.

Smithbrook trail provides a shortcut to Lake Valhalla and the Pacific Crest Trail. 3.6 miles to the lake from here vs. 6 from Stevens pass. Small elevation gain, never very steep, it's a pleasant little walk.
