Perfect day for a snowshoe hike, sunny and fresh snow this week! It’s pretty steep even without snowshoes, so with them was a great workout. The views were definitely worth it in the end.

Great little snowshoe. Tons of parking, mid-week. They got a couple of inches of new snow last night and it was beautiful. I'm not sure where Austin Peter's March 10 posting was about. The lake is not at the top of anything, more of a shelf. The trail starts from the Steven's Pass Ski lodge parking lot. There are feet upon feet of snow up here and has been for quite a while.

Snowshoes weren't necessary until about 1/4 mile from the lake but we used them anyways. Going around and past the lake definitely would have been more difficult without them. Decent view from the top.

Beautiful snowshoe trail. Steep climb, but so many great views along the way. Took about 2.5 hours round trip, frequent stops for the views.

It's a good steep short Snowshoe. We went past the lake on the east side to a ridge that added a nice view. Only added a 1/4 mile to the hike.

All uphill to the lake. A little over an hour to get there. Kids sled back on their tears. Out dog lived it.

Fantastic trail and view at the top! Packed down snow, did not need snowshoe, micro spikes worked well. Lots of people though on this nice sunny day

HikingGreat!

Was there 3 days ago. Amazing views. Lots of snow. It’s uphill all the way which is a bit challenging if you are not in shape and then back down. Traffic going west bound thru town of Gold Bar was horrible.

SnowshoeingGreat!Snow

I've snowshoed this many times and it never disappoints! It's best to go on a clear day and not a weekend if possible. This is a short but steep hike, the groomed road travels north and gains elevation quickly. Shortly up the road after you pass a tower, there will be tracks leading off of the road on your left. These will take you to the Skyline Lake. You can also go up one more switchback and there will be another set of tracks leading left from there, those will also take you to the lake. If you reach the tower at the end of the road then you’ve gone too far. Enjoy the views from there then backtrack down, keeping your eyes peeled for the path west to Skyline Lake. As tempting as it may be, don’t walk over the lake! It can be very dangerous if the ice is thin. Skyline Lake is lovely but the views are further up! Walk the south shore of the lake to the opposite side and start making your way up. There's usually always tracks unless you're the first person after fresh snowfall. This is such a popular snowshoe that rarely will you be the one blazing the trail. If you are, just pick your way carefully and be mindful.
