Description
Waypoints (0)

This trip encompasses the entire trail system within Sharpe Park, with a little bit of backtracking included.  The trails included are the Sharpe Park Trail, Wetland View Trail, Montgomery Duban Trail, Upper and Lower Loop Trail, Starbucks Connector Trail, Bluff Trail, Bluff Shortcut Trail, Cross Connector Trail, Sares Head Trail, and the Upper and Lower Trail.  All told it took about 2 hours to hike the entire park. Some of the trails, especially the Bluff Trail, are a little challenging with the rise and fall in elevation and the ruggedness of the trail, but the payoff is absolutely worth it.  The view along the coast and of the nearby islands is priceless.

HikingGreat!

Such a great little park! Very nicely maintained, in fact while there today on 2/12 there were volunteers doing trail maintenance. Great views from Sares Head. Great family friendly walk/hike.

Didn’t plan on stopping here but so glad I did. The views of the Olympics over the sound were absolutely incredible

Happy New Year’s Day, final hike of the year was foggy and very beautiful, just a few others out on the trail and pretty muddy but otherwise very peaceful.

Fantastic afternoon hike. Hard to beat fun to effort ratio. Several loops that can add up to 2-3 miles of up and down, but if you want you can hike a half mile up to one of the prettiest views in the state to a lookout to Rosario strait and Lopez island. Avoid Porpoise point loop if you don't like steep trails, all the others are moderate to easy.

A bit of everything around here. It’s pretty much Choose Your Own Adventure as there’s lots of trails meeting up with one another. The lookout is worth it, as is porpoise point. Barely another soul there when we went. Trail quality varies, and it can be steep, especially if you go for the bonus loop not marked on AllTrails.

This is a decent family friendly walk, not really a “hike” as most of the path/trail is flat. A stroller could be pushed through a good majority of the trails. Great views at Sares Point.

This was just okay for me. Wouldn't do it again. The trail was maintained in parts and fairly overgrown in others. The porpoise point trail was very rugged & we saw no porpoise(s). The views were nothing to write home about either. If you want breathtaking views, head out to Lighthouse Point, it's worth the extra 5 minute drive. You can get down to the beach there too, which is nice.

You just can’t beat these views! Beautiful park. A few things to know. The Sares Head Trail is easy to moderate and is the most direct route to the panoramic views of the San Juan islands. Stunning. Porpoise Point Trail is HARD from a trail condition perspective. Steep, rocky, roots. I would have been in trouble without my poles. That said I enjoyed the challenge and there were porpoise feeding at porpoise point. Had that trail to myself at 8:30 on a Saturday. Glad I had the offline map; I thought I got off the trail back up but nope, that was the trail. :). Would do it again but won’t bring my dog again for the porpoise point Trail portion.

I absolutely loved this hike. Beautiful views and nice up and down terrain. Once to the cliff you can hike down to the water and a small beach area but it is sketchy so do so at your own risk. I want to do this one again for sure.

Beautiful trail! Mostly through the forest, but a lot of great coastal lookout spots. A bit of a scramble in some spots, but overall pretty easy.

Very nice trail system in a beautiful location but it is frequently and significantly impacted by jet noise.

Enjoyed the loop trail, and the views from the lookout points of the beautiful San Juans. We went on a gorgeous sunny day. Somewhere we got turned around and ended up on the bluff by the water. We had to climb our way back to the main trail (good workout) missed the sign, some of them are not as visible...I wouldn't recommend this trail for children or dogs that are not trained. Lots of edges and narrow areas.

The views from the top of this trail are amazing. We went on a cloudy day with intermittent rain but still could see for miles into the San Juan Islands. We were blown away by the views and enjoyed savoring them for a long time. We enjoyed all the trails in this system, though some were tough and technical. Great signage - we never felt like we were lost no matter where we were. This was definitely a good glute workout!

This was a magnificent hike. Beautiful clear sunny day. The trees shaded us well on the trail. The view was spectacular when we got to the top.

Beautiful view. We even saw some seals in the water at the bluff overlook. Definitely a leg workout! Took along kids ages 8-18 and our dog. Great hike!
