HikingFeeGreat!

Great easy hike with incredible views! In these short miles you get views of the mountain, Shadow Lake, grassy meadows, wildflowers, a creek, and if you’re lucky some wildlife! We saw a mama and baby deer, chipmunk, butterflies and heard others saw marmots. Starting in the parking lot you take the service road toward Shadow Lake. At the first fork, the sign doesn’t say Shadow Lake so keep right to stay on the main trail toward the lake. Once at the lake, you can walk all the way around though the path gets pretty narrow in some places but very do-able! Afterwards when you get back to the main parking area, we stopped at the lodge which had a great gift shop- I highly recommend stopping in! The bathroom facilities were open and had soap and paper towels and there were also a few portapotties out front to use. All in all this is a great easy hike if you want good views and don’t have a lot of time to hike or want an easy trail!

HikingGreat!No shade

Mt. Rainier is gorgeous. The drive and the hike is worth the trip. Lots of wildflowers and pretty Meadows throughout. Lots of people but also lots of intertwined trails so you can kind of jump on different ones or take different routes to get to the areas you’re looking for.
