Road into trailhead wasn’t the best with large potholes, a few washouts and very narrow at times. Getting a car in would be tricky. Trail is in good shape other than a few areas of erosion. Good climb to start after that a pretty easy. Lots of elk hunters along the trail as bow season is going on. Saw 1 bull elk about 2 miles in. Only a couple campsites around sand lake. Views got better on the way out as the clouds moved up and out. Nice hike and would do again.

A little early...hit 6’ of snow about 2 miles in but otherwise a beautiful trail.
