From Vancouver, east 70 miles on Highway 14 to Highway 141. Turn north and drive 22 miles to Forest Service Road 23 (Buck Creek Road), near the town of Trout Lake. Turn right and drive 3 miles to Forest Service Road 82. Turn right and drive 0.5 mile to Forest Service Road 80. Turn left and drive 4 miles to Forest Service Road 8040. Continue 5 miles on Road 8040 to Morrison Creek Campground and Forest Service Road 500. Turn right and drive 2 miles to the trailhead at the end of the road.

Road up to bird lake through Yakima reservation is closed for repairs (apparently will not open this year) had to go to South Mountain trailhead and then hike in. long hike but worth it.
