We took our 3 yr old, almost 2 year old twins, and 70 year old mother with a tender knee, and we loved this hike! The 3 yr old was able to walk the entire loop by himself even though the initial ascent was a bit steep. The 2 year olds walked most of the way except for the steeper bits. Mom made it through just fine as well! We saw Hairy Woodpeckers and heard a Pileated Woodpecker nearby. The creek was bone dry (8/6/17), but it was still really neat to walk along and see the rocks in the creek bed. Would love to do this again when the creek is in full force!

8/5/2017 (Saturday) - After 2 hot and smoggy days, this is a cool morning (65-70F in the woods). The creek is completely dry, no water at all. Easy walk for 2 hours (4 miles): Wideside - Indian - Red Town.

since it is now fall season there are a lot of leaves on the ground which will cover up the surprise roots of the trees that pop out and trip you! So other than that it was a lot of greenery and the view was okay...nothing to thrive on....decent workout nonetheless.

Fun, easy trail. Lots of connecting trails with some small little brooks and small waterfalls. Not something I'd take time out of the day to drive to again, but great if you're local or in the area.

A simple hike good for all ages and skill levels. Ends with a beautiful meadow restoration site with a bit of historical background. Easily connected with adjacent trails to extend and add challenge to your hike!
