I loved the little trail off to the side that tells the history of the first ranger in the Olympic National Forest. The trail is not taken care of lots of overgrown and the road up not taken care of as well. Lots of fallen branches and pot holes everywhere.

*National Forest Pass Req* Great hike! Park near the water pump and ensure you’re not blocking the gate to the cabin which might have someone staying in it (the cabin can be stayed in if you make prior arrangements). The trail is a nice walk through the forest with an alternate trail that breaks at the trailhead’s bathroom and goes behind the cabin looping back to the main trail (has info boards). When you near the “hole” you will get an overview and notice a lot of erosion/ slide, be cautious near the edge... there is a better way down. Continue along the trail and it will end near to top of the flow on some rocks... take a left and traverse the rocks down toward the calm area perfect for a swim. The water is a nice deep green color and the view is amazing!

A really nice hike with the kiddos (5 & 7). There’s a nice place to sit in the shade and have a snack at the river. Highly recommend.

This was a great family hike. We only wish it had been longer! Perfect challenge level for 9 and 11 year olds, and they loved having a picnic at the overlook.

Hiked this trail with my family a couple of years ago. I carried a baby on my back and our three year old walked the whole way. It was a beautiful and easy hike. Great for little ones. We fished at the "hole" in the end, but it was a little precarious to get down to the fishing. So, if you do want to fish, just be prepared for a little climbing. Overall, we loved it and will probably take the kids back soon!!
