Took the pup on her first overnight hike to Pear Lake via Top Lake #1506 trail! Road: Be sure to map out your route because it is on a road that does not exist on google. The road is rough but surprisingly quite passable. A few spots with potholes, but it IS very rocky and overgrown in a few spots. So be prepared to have bushes brush your vehicle. Bugs: definitely annoying when you take breaks on the trail. Breezes on the lake help, but the bugs were annoying. That being said I hate using spray and didn’t use any. Trail: Great hike, definitely overgrown in a lot of areas, was happy to wear long pants. This hike has a lot, forest, meadows, mountain and lake views. A few trees were blown down but easily passable. There was one large group right away at the east side of the lake. But countless spots available on the other end. There was this very strange belligerent yelling throughout the night, it was tough to determine if it came from the lake basin or somewhere nearby. Fish!: had great luck fishing! Caught a few very nice rainbows (12-14+ inches) and finally caught one small enough for my pan :)
