Hiked the trail with a buddy 7/26-7/28. Made it a nice weekend with camping. Weather was great, bugs where thick in some spots, but was expected and we where prepared so this did not hamper the enjoyment. This was my first “long” hike in over 20years due to me being over weight and unable to meet physical demands. So it was a goal met after loosing 108lbs. Trail was steep in spots and got the heart rate up carrying 38lb pack. Trail in good shape and did not disappoint. Most say to go from white pass to chinook pass. I chose chinook to white due to less elevation gain. But either direction you will not be disappointed.

Hiked this section 7/27/19. Grand vistas and views of Mount Rainier would by typical this time of year, but the weather was unseasonably cool and wet. It is still a beautiful trail in the mist with the lakes and wildflowers. The trail was in better condition than I expected. It’s not very steep, but moderately difficult due to long uphill and downhill sections.

Did this hike in summer of 2018, last week of July. We hiked the opposite way, from White Pass to Chinook Pass. Absolutely stunning views! Especially in Rainier park. The first 5 miles of the hike, the bugs were absolutely horrendous, but after that it wasn’t too bad. It was a steep climb our last day, but worth every step! Will be back someday!

Just did the reverse version. White Pass to Chinook. It was fantastic!! Amazing weather. Good water available at halfway point - bumping river. NO insects to bother you! Saw a couple elk. Not nearly as many people as during the summer months. We did two days hiking and over night camp.

Fantastic section of the PCT! Went the second weekend in July, 2018. No mosquitos from Chinook until the descent to Crag Lake. Then bam! ONCE YOU STOP, YOU ARE SWARMED BY THE TENS OF THOUSANDS. It was almost like a movie! Great ups and down. Strenuous but doable. We started on Friday night at 5:20 pm and camped at Anderson Lake. Then we took off at about 8:00 am and made it to just past the Twin Sisters (lakes) Trail by 7:00pm. Had to cross the Bumping River on a log that sits upstream by 50 meters. The following morning we hit the train at 8:00 am and made it to White Pass by Noon after a dip in Leechs Lake. A great trip with my son!
