Olympic Hot Springs, Appleton Pass, and Sol Duc Loop Trail is a 25.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Port Angeles, Washington that features a waterfall and is rated as difficult. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October.
Beginning had the beautiful waterfalls. 4 miles in hike is moderate. After the junction sign you will be climbing the side of a mountain with few switchbacks and long 30% inclines. If you go in July the east side of the pass may have too much snow to pass. Just make a right turn and go up the ridge to the side of the snow banks through the campsites to a beautiful level area about 500 feet up south of the pass. Awesome views. We encountered a two year buck also.
I arrived at Appleton Pass off trail. It was quite memorable. Anytime you can get to this area of the Olympics you won't regret it. This area is amazing!
