We did the primitive trail loop. It’s steep coming back up with switch backs. Also my daughter got 3 bee stings so be aware if your allergic! The beach was beautiful!

I really love this hidden gem. I usually take the paved trail down to the beach. However, they is a primitive trail, as well which is nice too. I highly suggest wearing bug spray. Once you make it down the many stairs you are greeted by drift wood and what feels like your own secluded beach. On a clear day the views of Mt. Rainer is quite breathtaking and unmatched. Be prepared for a steep hike back up. Overall this a a great mini trail with a lot of surprises. You never know what you might encounter blue herons, eagles, owls, woodpeckers and various other wildlife.

This is a nice short trail but it is very narrow and steep in places. You can get to the beach by taking the paved path down and back and avoiding the difficult part, or make it more challenging by taking other trail. Nice picnic areas at the top and a beach at the end.

Running

This trail may easy for anyone who wants to go for a walk with other adults or older children. This trail is difficult for anyone who desires to trail run or anything besides a leisurely stroll. There are two ways you experience this trail which is either steep grade downhill or steep grade uphill. I walked 90% of this and it was still difficult… I was passing several people that were on a leisure stroll with their families because they were having a difficult time walking up hills. Most of the trail is very narrow so if it’s busy, you will have to wait behind others or sidestep them.

Nice short scenic walk, easy as described. Walk to beach super easy, but walk back up to parking is steep. There are strategically placed benches in case you need to rest for a sec.

If it wasn’t for the planes overhead I would have forgotten I was still in Seattle. This short trail was a blessing after a rough day at work. I practically had the whole trail to myself. The beach is gorgeous with its rocky sand that you can walk barefoot in and crystal clear water. What more can you ask for? I sat down on a smooth as butter piece of drift wood, read my book, and watched the boats slowly go by. I’d definitely recommend. Would be a great trail for kids and doggos! Definitely going to bring my little nuggets next time.

Very limited parking but nice walk down. Beware, going down hill means you gotta go back up. This is a good trail to take your dog.

enjoyed with a 3 year old....going down was easy and went the paved path....on the way back, went slow and stopped at each bench to eat something from our lunch, then ended up taking the primitive trail part way up which was much more fun and easy for the 3 year old. a fun morning !!!
