If you want an easy out and back trail...this is it. I took my 12 & 14 year old kids and it was a small challenge for them. Has a few hills and beautiful view. The only complaint from us would be we couldn't get to the river.

My kids and I love this trail! (Kids are 6,5,3, and I front carry my 3m old) Especially the swamp area. They enjoy crossing the many “bridges”. There’s one long, steep, slope to get down to them that the kids have a little trouble with, but it’s worth it. There is always mud, but that’s half the fun! Drizzly days are the best days to go! We’ve been going for a few years, now, and we only run into 1 or 2 people while on the trail, fall-spring. Summertime, usually a few more. We also, enjoy the park that’s through the gate and the water feature, during the summertime.

Lives up to its name. Trees obstruct the view of the river which is too bad, but a decent trail. Probably deserves a 3.5.

Now I know why it’s called Mud Mountain! Very muddy, especially in the beginning .5 mile. River Trail was closed but the Ridge Trail was open. The Ridge Trail isn’t as well marked, and in some areas you go onto the main road and have to get back into the trail at another spot down the road. These locations aren’t well marked, so you’ll have to pay attention to make sure you spot the junction back into the trail. Thankfully other hikers put rock markers near those spots to help. Weather was rainy and overcast, so it was a good chance to practice weatherproofing myself and my pack, and there were some nice views of the river despite the overcast sky.

tried to go on a sunday 01/26/2020 but it was my first time and couldnt figure out how to get from the side parking when the gate is closed to access the trail. a little disappointed to not be able to hike the trail wouldve been a nice day to go. I did notice a gate to the left of the parking where there was a separate gate?

Muddy but passable. Some views of river below. Not a lot to see. To make 5 miles, continue on River Trail down the hill and when you get to river turnaround. Park is only open M-F so will be back to see that. Rushed a little to finish by 4 (when gates close).

This trail is we’ll maintained but pretty easy. It’s more of a stroll than a hike. Listening to the river is nice. Not much traffic...good outing if you are looking for an easy family out and back.

Good time. You can hear the river while hiking and can see it through the dreams at different points. Fun and easy hike. Very flat.

Very easy trail and very relaxing. Went on a Thursday and there wasn’t any foot traffic which was super nice. Don’t expect to get close to the water cuz I couldn’t figure it out. Keep in mind, the parking opens at 9am and closes at 4pm. Overall a great trail and only took a little over 2 hrs with a few stopping

Nice wooded trails, some wide and some skinny single ledge trails. Lots of wooden plank low to the ground bridges, mushroom and slugs. It was foggy today so we didn’t get to see much in way of the river. The Rim trail ends and then you have to connect to the River trail to actually go down to the river. Total for the 2 trails as a out and back starting at the park will be 10 miles. These trails don’t bring you a view of the flood control dam either. Today. We hiked the trail where Rim and River meet. It was roughly 4 miles and easy.

This hike was okay. Not many views besides in the beginning. The trail is slightly over grown as well. Overall, it was a pretty easy hike besides a couple steep portions.

The actual rim trail has some compact snow and ice In places, but still manageable. The app has you stopping after walking all the way down a forest road, which is the start of the river trail. I went on, it was another 3 miles to the end. That trail will be better in the spring after the snow melts. Overall, a nice little trail to hike. The day was absolutely beautiful to hike on too!

Decent maintenance, okay signage, snow covered with mud in some spots. Can tell it will be a wet mess once the snow melts. Easy 2 mile hike (unless you add the River trail too) on narrow path.

This is a fun family hiking trail with just a couple of short hills. There are a couple of view points on an otherwise wooded trail. Great for just a walk in the woods. The trail was in great shape with just a bit of brush encroaching in a few places. Bugs weren’t bad hiking mid morning.
