One of the best hikes. Mirror lake was absolutely gorgeous and felt great to swim! Hiked around on the PCT and found a beautiful clearing with a waterfall!

This is a short but pretty steep hike to two Beutiful lakes. The trail is well marked. Parking was a little challenging as there were quite a lot of cars around 11:00 AM. There were a lot of people in the lake but we managed to find a spot and swim a little. Crocks would have been helpful as there are stones on the bottom of the lake and it's pretty painful to step on them. Bugs were terrible and they seemed impervious to our bug spray.

Beautiful hike. Lots of little streams and cool looking tree stumps. The hike in was mostly up hill.

This is a great trail for a day hike, goes up to 4,300 feet at mirror lake. The PCT cuts through the top of the trail and there is a great overlook if you go halfway around mirror lake and down the trail by the creek. Lots of mossy trees and shady cover from the canopy.

Lake was beautiful. Still a lot of snow near mirror lake that makes footing a bit sketch but the view near the camping area makes it all worth it. Not a ton of parking so get there early.

Got there at 9am. First 5 miles of forest service roads riddled with pot holes. Nice short hike that follows a creek to the lake. Still lots of snow, couldn't follow the trail and kept falling into snowbanks with my dogs, so tread carefully. Lake is pretty though.

Tons of snow still covering at least 99% of the trail..couldn’t find the trail but I know the area well so made it to mirror lake.

This is a great hike to bring beginner-level friends on. It's relatively very easy and leads to gorgeous lakes you can swim in. There's a little green lake first, which you can just skip (though the green lakes do have the warmer water!), and then actual Mirror Lake which is icey and beautiful. I went in the summer and was glad to have a little $3 inner tube to sit on in the chilly water. My friend brought a hammock and his dog. For us, the only downside was the long drive out of the city, and the narrow dirt rode that scratched up the truck. We went twice though. It's a great place to chill and spend your afternoon. Campgrounds dotted the drive up.

Went today and highly enjoyed this hike. As others have said park at the bottom lot and walk up the road as it's impossible to drive up it unless you have a jeep or off roading vehicle.

The trail is not marked, but starts right after you see two sets of stacked rocks on the ground (as long as no one moves them). The hike was fairly gradual. To add a little more distance to your hike and some beautiful views of the lake, I recommend hiking around the entirety of the lake- it's not a super clear cut trail, but It's fairly easy to navigate around.

Went around 8:45am and were there until 12:30ish because we hung around by the lake and had lunch, but only saw a few groups of people and a handful of campers.

The hardest part was to drive up to the parking area! The trail to the lake was very nice but I needed to remind my mom (70) to watch out for tree roots. This trail is rated easy, but for seniors, hiking poles would definitely help. The lake was beautiful and kids enjoyed swimming in it. There were many files at the lake, but we didn't see mosquitoes. We saw many campers around the lake. Would love to come back with a hammock next time!

Hiked to Mirror Lake then came back different way. Trail back (NOT Mirror Lake route) was overgrown in places but passable, recommend using GPS to stay on that trail. Buggy and shaded en route to Mirror Lake, sunny and less buggy on other route back. Beautiful all the way round.

This was a great hike for beginners or those just wanting a nice short hike. The lake was beautiful! Just be ware of the parking shortage and DO NOT attempt to drive up to the trail head, park along the gravel road on your way up and then walk.

Never again. The road leading up to the parking lot is impossible to navigate via car, so you have to walk about .30 of a mile to the trailhead (marked by a pile of stones and a stick, it's on the left). The path is very narrow and we passed several people coming out as we were headed in. To make room for everyone on this trail, was precarious at best. Overgrown, claustrophobic, and really buggy. Not worth it.

Great trail, enjoyed merging with the Pacific Crest. At the end of the trail at Mirror Lake recommend going another 1000 yards down the PCT for a nice view.

Beautiful hike! Perfect for beginners!

Great hike!!!! Such a beautiful day hike perfect for
Beginners! Most park at the bottom where the road gets rough though, when walking up the road the trailhead is to the left marked by a rock pile on the corner, don't make the mistake of walking the entire length of the road. It's a narrow path to start, that how you'll know you're on the right trail!

Really nice lake at the end of this trail. Good for kids and dogs on leash. The elevation gain is pretty gradual.

I loved this hike, Once I made it to the top! The trailhead can be hard to find as there aren't very many clearly marked signs so make sure to follow the directions very carefully. The first part of the trail is a steep and rocky dirt road but is fairly easy, I would recommend going early in the morning if you are backpacking since a good portion of the trail is right in the sun, carrying more weight will definitely make you break a healthy sweat. The rest of the trail is very pretty but kind of tricky in some parts as it seems the trail may have been washed out by landslides or rain, so be prepared to climb over/ under tree trunks and through small streams. There are some steep parts and some nice down hill breaks but you'll know when you're about 2/3 the way when you come across cottonwood lake, more like pond but is still very serene and beautiful. It seems kind of like there wouldn't be another lake in sight for miles but you just have to make one more incline over somewhat of a ridge and then a beautiful scene opens up in front of you of Mirror lake. It was so clear we almost stepped into the water when we approached the shore. There is a trail that wraps around the lake, I suggest if you are camping to stay on the right side or east side of the lake so you can have more sun, it makes for really nice swimming. Overall the hike was more difficult than I anticipated with the amount of gear I was carrying but for a day hike I would say it's fairly easy and really fun and the lake at the top is a perfect destination. Can't wait to go again in two weeks!

Great little hike for the kids, not too much of an elevation, not too long and a beautiful lake.

Probably one of the prettiest Lakes that you will find after all the snow melts. Extremely easy trail.

So this trail was a little confusing to get to. I followed directions I had saved from another hiking website (glad I did, but cell service was limited once we got onto the forest road). Make sure to park in the lower area, as the higher parking area is only accessible via an off road vehicle. Once you park, head up the bumpy/rocky hill until you see a small trailhead to the left, which heads downward. If you don't take this, you can continue upward (which I what I accidentally did) and you'll find a great viewpoint, but not the lakes. Take this left, and you're on your way to Mirror Lake. You can also take a small side trail to look at Cottonwood Lake (more of a small pond) and it will be obvious when you approach the lake. Continue back on the main trail towards Mirror Lake, it's beautiful! Lots of great spots to sit by the water or on the rocks and enjoy company and lunch. Lots of bugs and bees out this time of year though, just be aware of that! Enjoy

Quick hike in to the amazing Mirror Lake. A few downed trees to negotiate, and muddy in places, but the payoff was worth it! Camped on the lake with a view out the tent door of towering rock peaks "mirrored" on the lake below. So great!

5/30/16 Still very snowy. Without my GPS watch, I would have had no idea where the trail was. Looking forward to coming back later in the year when the snow is gone.
