Pretty hard hike! Nearly 4,000 ft in elevation in about 2.3 miles. Coming down is a knee buster as well. We did the old trail up and then took the new trail down. Saved our knees and helped with time. Overall the hike took us 5.5 hours with some breaks on the way up and 30 mins of taking in the views at the top. 10/10 would hike again.

Waters gone. Legs are noodles. Missing a few toes and body fluid. Old trail is no joke kids.

Hiked the old trail up on Saturday and took the new trail down. Very steep and challenging hike.. It was snowing when I reached the summit. The weather is unpredictable up top so be prepared. I saw people turning around due to having sneakers and shorts on.

Old trail both ways. Challenging and steep. Nearly all the snow has melted except for the peak. Grey today but hope to come and hike again when it’s clear. Bring something for the mailbox

Don’t believe your experienced friends when they tell you this is an easy hike. It’s very challenging. Especially when you get up to the bolder field and if you step off the trail, you’ll sink up to your waist in snow. But when you’re sitting up at the peak, checking the mail, the view is flabbergasting.

This is a five star hike as its one of the best short elevation hikes around. Were as you dont always have a view and the trail is a little rooted and snowy, this hike is incredible in my opinion. I have no clue why they spent all that money adding an easy way up rather then adding another trail to the system where there wasnt one. This hike used to mean something if you tackled this old trail. Now its another church hike like Mt Si

Most brutal hike I've ever done. The old trail is a tedious 2.5 miles up 4000ft elevation. Experienced hikers only and do not attempt if you just had a leg day at the gym.

Went up and down both on old trail. Trail is very easy to follow. Trail is not marked but if you flow the diamond signs on trees

Fantastic hike. Great workout. Views fantastic though unfortunately smoke from the fire does inhibit see peaks in the far distance but still great 360. I did clockwise on the loop rather than counter clockwise. I thought it was rough going up 1000ft/mile but as I came down the steeper portion was completely in awe at those doing the 4000ft elevation gain in 2 miles. Definitely a great hike to to build stamina for something bigger. Am looking to climb Rainier next year and used this trail as a gauge for my health since I'm from the east coast and just getting into hiking in depth. 21/2 hrs going up 11/2 coming down with breaks. Look forward to doing more hikes else where and come back to use trail as a gauge.
