Hiked and camped this 9/22. Some quick notes:
1) it's very busy. Lots of hikers and campers, many with dogs. Expect to have company.
2) first 4 miles with backpack can be tough. All uphill. Trail is well maintained.
3) it's sub-alpine, so no campfires (just small stoves).
4) there are maybe 6-8 OK campsites around the lake. There is also an outhouse (thunderbox).
5) the scramble down to Pratt is daunting at times. The trail disappears in the scree in places, so need to go slow with packs.
6) the area is below a major airway into Seattle. Expect to hear jets at all hours.
