Went on 5/19 in the morning (9:15a start - return 2:11p). A little overcast but luckily no rain. The drive up to the trailhead wasn't too bad as it was mostly paved (but gravel between Govey road cutoff and Vance creek viaduct parking.) Trailhead itself has plenty of parking on both side.
The trail overall was good....went about 5.5 miles in. The start as most indicated is the bulk and the largest of the inclines...then you go back down the other side to the river...and the nearly flat trail continues. Noting a couple of spots with big mud puddles where you'll need to traverse over logs on the side. It's fun. As the trail meanders along the river and hillside there are ups and down...but nothing to get alarmed over. Again...it was fun. Once at Comfort Camp (@4 mi) most turn around but go another mile to the lookout point @ mile 5. It's worth it...and it located half way up some switchbacks. lol. i went further but nothing really to see so you can turn around at marker 5 mi.
Good trip overall. lots of bridges, streams and views.
Enjoy.
