The trailhead is if you start at the top, go down and back up. Little Mountain Park, comprising 522 acres, is located south of Mount Vernon City limits. Follow the 1.5 mile paved road to the top of Little Mountain, an elevation gain of 934 feet. A covered viewpoint provides a spectacular look at the Skagit Valley, San Juan Islands, Olympic Mountains, and the tulip fields. The north viewpoint opened in the spring of 2005 with a spectacular view of Mount Baker. The park also provides numerous hiking trails and serves as an excellent hang gliding location. Come and bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenic Skagit Valley.

Beautiful day for a hike at this gem of a park! You would have no idea you were so close to a city if it wasn't for the traffic noise. Lots of birds, a few squirrels, big trees and the wildflowers are just starting to bloom. I came on a warm spring Saturday afternoon. There were quite a few cars, but there are enough miles of trails that I only passed a few other hikers here and there. There is a labyrinth of trails, so definitely keep a map handy!

Best advice was using a previous review that suggested www.LittleMountainPark.org/map. That was amazing and extremely helpful to have on my phone. There are three trail heads. This app only provides the main trailhead that refers to the criminal activity. I parked at the Archery and hiked up to the viewpoints. They're many trails zigzagging thru these hills which are all well marked and if you have the map on how to navigate it's a great hike. We did about 4 miles round trip. Taylor's Trail to Up Quick is a good climb. Bonny and Clyde to Juliann coming back down was a nice scenery change. ENJOY!

Thanks for the reviews. I may drive to the top and just look but the criminal activity is a huge turn off. Sad as this has become a trend for allot of trailheads.

Great trails for every level.

It was a good hike . I definitely saw some criminal types hanging around the parking lot so I didn’t venture super far from vehicle but fun all the same

The trails are certainly five star, but I got back to my truck to find it had been broken into. I’ve hiked there six times now and the damage to my truck was $1200 so that comes to $200 a hike. My problem is, once again the Rangers have done absolutely nothing to catch the person doing this damage so it’s just not worth going there to me. If you decide to hike there be vigilant and keep an eye out for shady characters. The window repair place that repaired my vehicle said they’ve repaired several vehicles with damage from Little Mountain Park.

Nice offering of trails - different skill levels and inclines. Mountain bike trails make for easy hiking w/ switchbacks. Hiking only trails were a better workout w/ steeper inclines. Don’t use “Directions” provides thru this app - search by Little Mountain Park and park at top of road (or one of trailheads along the way). Bring lunch and eat at one of the two lookouts. If you want to park at bottom so you can climb first, park at Silver Arrow Bowmen archery range.

I came to the mountain early (before the park was open) and used another entrance up the road. It has a lot of little trails to use with beautiful scenery. The top view is worth it. I was able to run most of it but near the top some of the trails got too steep to run. The main view is nice but if you follow the walking trail just left of the gazebo there is a nice rock to sit on and take in the view.

But be careful one of the wooden bridges on Nature Trail is broken. Only one of them though! Go here for your first time hiking and if you are want short hikes before your longer difficult hikes!!! Nice little park of trails. Went to the north viewpoint and then took La-Z-Boy back down. Will come back here to explore more at some point.

2/13/18 Drove to the top and walked down the road to about mid way to start the hike. It was a clear day and the Bonnie and Clyde trail was great with only a couple of down trees. Was neat to see the valley flooded.

Great little find! Drove to top to check the views then hiked around for a couple hours! The only thing I did not like is all the strange cars full of suspicious people/kids doing what they were not supposed to be doing! Other than that a cool spot to do a quick easy adventure or just take in the views!

Many trails, many different ways to go. Worth the walk. Even a road all the way to top, with a few pull offs up the way, if you want to start from anywhere. Great views, perfect for all ages, dogs and children.

Tight trails, good burms make for solid riding...only road a few trails but definitely good downhill rides. Be cautious though, some turns are posted right up to very large drops, if you don't nail it, you're a bird!

Great hike for beginners, it's fun and not very difficult. It needs more signs though.

Beautiful forest, well maintained, easy to follow trails. Some tough spots inexperienced hikers but we did it! The lookout points at the top make it well worth the trip.
