Please check conditions on park website to see up-to-date road and trail closures. There is a permanent detour around Middle Falls, the trail slid and is impassable between Lower and Middle Falls. All of the trail behind the detour is closed to all uses. Detour routes thru Middle Falls parking area. Possible to make a 7-mile loop hike, out and back along this 3.5-mile long trail touring the three colossal waterfalls on this trail. Park by the restrooms. A gravel trail sets off; take a right-hand fork to heard to an overlook of Lower Falls. Continue on the riverbank upstream, ignore all left-hand forks, after half a mile the gravel path turns to duff. After another mile, cross a footbridge; you can take a left here for a half-mile loop to Copper Creek's other waterfall, which you may save for the return trip. Continue along the Lewis River past Middle Falls to Upper Falls; the final 0.7 mile of the Lewis River Trail passes humble Taitnapum Falls and follows Quartz Creek to a bridge on Road 90. This is a section of trail no. 31 that starts at the Lower Falls Recreation Area. There is no cell service there.

Currently there’s a downed tree 3 mi from the trailhead which our low clearance car couldn’t pass through. A shame that we didn’t get to hike the trail but the drive was beautiful! Also watch for crossing elk/deer and bumps / potholes on the way in. Be sure to look for the roadside mini waterfalls and you can also hit the McClellan overlook on the way in for a breathtaking view of mt St. Helens.

Lower trailhead entrance is closed right now, but you have to park at the Middle Falls Trailhead. We only went to Middle and Upper Falls, but both were gorgeous and unique. And fairly easy hike too.

"Lower Falls campground and recreation area is closed for the season starting 9/25/2019. New restroom installation." Middle just down the road is still open and you can back track on the trail to see Lower Falls. Otherwise a beautiful and easy trail with beautiful waterfalls! Total mileage if you start at Middle Falls and go up to Upper Falls, then back to Middle and down to Lower and back up to Middle: 8.7miles.

Beautiful falls! I think the trailhead for this is located in the Lewis Falls Campground area, which is closed for maintenance (long term it seemed). We were unsure if we could park by the campground drive, so we drove a minute or so further, to the Middle Falls parking lot, and hiked to the Lower Falls first and then the Middle and Upper. There is really only part (the Upper Falls lookout) that I would consider moderate and it's really short. The rest of the trail was easy and pleasant. Beautiful the whole way and great for dogs!

Finally made the over 2 hours drive and was not disappointed. All three falls were beautiful! Definitely planning another trip soon.

Truly gorgeous! The first fall was pretty busy & the third, being as it is the furthest away (but not far) was empty. It’s worth walking to. The pups loved it - especially my water lover. Note: We did this hike back in July & here I am just getting around to a review SO conditions are different now I’m sure.

Very nice hiking conditions and very few people on the trail. All three falls are beautiful... But the fall colors are gone. Will definitely be back in the spring and fall to photograph the falls with some more surrounding color.

After this hike I have NO idea why anyone would hike the falls in the Columbia River Gorge. Stunning and quiet. Lower falls was completely inaccessible by car or on foot. Started at middle and hiked to the intersection of #90. Will definitely be back.

Great place to hike! I drove a couple hours to hike here and I was not disappointed. Dog friendly trails and it wasn't overly busy for the weekend, which was nice. I'm not an avid hiker and the trails were fairly easy to get through. Definitely recommend.

Wonderful shaded, well kept trail, dog friendly. The Falls were breathtaking and the forest was green and luscious. Would love to come back again next year. We hiked on a Saturday and found a place to park at the trailhead near the Lower Falls Campground. Hike took us about 4 hours but we kept stopping to look at the different Falls. The trail was gently sloped and easy to follow. ❤️

3 Amazing waterfalls on a pretty easy hike of about 6 miles. Lower falls is really unbelievable, like being in hawaii.

The hike was amazing! You should get there early so you have somewhere to park. We parked at the upper falls and hiked down to the lower falls, stopping at middle falls as well. It took a couple of hours to hike the whole trail, not too many people, and everyone was very friendly. The lower falls is very popular, kid and dog friendly! Definitely recommend this hike!

Gorgeous views no matter where you are on the trail. The hike to the highest fall is a couple hours but so worth it! It also wasn’t very crowded when I was there. The lower fall is definitely the most crowded but has a great cliff jumping spot! Dog and kid friendly. The water is also very clear and semi cold.

Nice hike. We went on a Tuesday morning. Only saw a handful of folks. Lower Falls are ready pretty as are the Middle Falls. Great for swimming. Trail is well kept. It’s a nice peaceful relaxing walk in the Forest along Lewis River.

Great Day for a Hike! trail in overall good shape; a couple little slip spots; not crowded; started at lower falls @ 10:30; youngest was 8 and he managed the trail with ease

We wanted to get there early so we left Portland 7am. 2 hours and 15 mins later we arrived. We started at the lower falls but decided to hike straight up to the upper falls than head end it at lower falls. The middle falls was closed due to them fixing the trail but the upper falls made up for us not being able to see the middle falls. I hike wasn’t bad at all; from the lower falls to the upper falls it’s like an hour in a half walking. The Upper falls was beautiful; when we got there it was lonely and peaceful. All you can hear was the water. Middle Falls: Unfortunately couldn’t see. Lower Falls: Beautiful but so many people. Some people are dare devils cause I don’t think I could go off trail and actually get on top of the falls, so dangerous but to each there own. Overall: It was a very nice adventure.
