I selected this trail for its length, lack of crowds, and relatively lower elevation. I did encounter increasing snow that was fairly easy to walk on, but turned around about 5 miles when I lost the trail under the snow. The hike up to then wasn't spectacular, but a nice first hike with a lot of creeks, a pond, and limited views. A plus was that I didn't see any person on the trail during the 5 hours I was there. A few trees are down, but not too difficult to get across. Since I cut my hike short due to the snow I then hiked to Silver Falls.
I would recommend this for a day hike. Falls are amazing and it’s a rather easy hike. There is a great bridge lookout and you can extend you hike due to several connecting trails.
