Hiked trail 1/7/20 and still felt confident heading up without spikes or snowshoes. A little slushy in places, but nothing a little careful footing can’t handle. A bit of snow up top, so definitely wearing higher boots, but not terrible conditions at all. Incredible view of the surrounding area from the top!! A perfect sunrise hike!

The road up to the trailhead was not plowed but is a short walk to the trailhead. There were two trees down that fell over three sections of the trail. It was easy to get around. There was snow the whole way up. A few places that were a little icy. There were a few places at the top that were a little dicey. We only used spike on the way just to be safe. The view from the top is amazing!

Great trail. We went on a partially cloudy/foggy day but the views were still pretty.

The trail overall was really nice and quiet once you get halfway up. You get a nice view most of the way up and an excellent view of the other side of the ridge if you go a little past the trunk seat at the peak. I went with my family (ages 42, 42, 11, 24, 21, 21) taking us 3 hours 40 minutes to complete coming back down to the car. 12/18/19 It wasn’t snowing, but there was snow on the ground with the area surrounding the trail itself. Once you pass the halfway point it got pretty icy and would warrant caution going back down as we all fell down at least once. 4/5 for the sore butts but nice view.

awesome trail - switchbacks galore!! Trail was well maintained. Beautiful views along the way and incredible pay off at the end. when you get to the top, make sure to go all the way to end to get a view of the cute city below.

Work you way up to a very beautiful, expansive view of the mountains and Leavenworth. PLEASE NOTE: Some of the reviews of this trail appear to be talking about either Icicle Gorge Trail or Icicle Creek Trail, both of which are rated easy difficulty and follow along water. Not the same as this Icicle RIDGE Trail. The trail is well maintained, very easy to follow, hard packed and clear, about 2 1/2 feet wide with no loose rock or obstacles. There is a trickle of water across the trail in one spot but it is only an inch deep now. There are some peek-through views on the way up but expansive views at the top. All the deciduous trees (found in the lower elevation) have lost their leaves now, could be slick if wet. The trail has been kissed by fire in the past. For this 68 year old carcass, the grade was a too steep, with several long switchbacks going up and hard on the knees coming down. It took me 2.5 hours in and 2 hours coming out with many stops for photos, but a better hiker could probably do it in 3.5 hours. I didn't see any animals, but heard five different bird calls. Met four parties. Plenty of parking at the trailhead just yards off the road. No toilet. I only deducted one star on the rating because I don't like to hike that steep of a trail.

Hit the trail on 10/19 about 8:15am, rained all morning and made for some slippery spots, recommend a walking stick or similar if its wet. Great views start about halfway up, but the view from the top is 100% better! Colors were great, rain was not, but still totally worth it! Took about 3.5 hours, I am not an athlete and it was doable.

This trail is up all the time, but mostly not too steep. Totally worth it for the views! And all the amazing fall colours are a bonus right now! I was up and back in about 3.5hrs :)

Trail was in great condition, beautiful fall colors right now. We didn’t make it to the top bc we didn’t realize it’s 5.5 miles each way and didn’t plan for time accordingly (made it 3 miles up before turning around) - will have to come back and finish! Even without finishing, gorgeous views.

Nice hike to kill a few hours and a wonderful view of Leavenworth from the top. Really loved the trees out in their fall colors this time of year. The trail is very well maintained and highly trafficked. It is not too difficult but there is a steady elevation gain right from the start. I would reccomend checking this one out if you don't have time to do Colchuck Lake or one of the other longer hikes in the area.

The pictures posted for the trail definitely don’t do it justice. On the way up you get glimpses and full views of a valley between peaks with farmland and a tranquil river. Once you reach the top you get a view of the Tumwater canyon, currently at peak fall color (October), and Leavenworth. It’s very beautiful. It’s a busy trail where I had to parallel park into an abandoned spot on an otherwise packed trailhead. I recommend doing this hike in the morning as once the sun passes midday Tumwater Canyon gets covered in shadow which while still nice is a little less dramatic. The first half of the trail was fine and I scoffed that it was labeled moderate but the switchbacks at the top were difficult for me. Trail is up the whole way with very little leveling out so it is an exercise in stamina. I’ve done longer trails than this and greater elevation gains over shorter distances but my body wasn’t feeling this trail the day I hiked. I finished in 4 hours including the break at the top which isn’t too far other reports I’ve seen for average hikers.

Done this one a couple times now. Beautiful trails. Just watch out for mountain bikers. It is popular stomping grounds for them.

This hike is for the persons who want to be rewarded for hard work and have an amazing view when you reach the top. Elevation will get your heartbeat up and and the air you breath at the top of the mountain with a panoramic view of Leavenworth is well worth it. Be sure to wear a hat and bring water to stay hydrated. Don’t forget to turn right and walk to the peak to see it all. Sit on a log enjoy a light snack or lunch before you head back down “Breath Taking”

Great view of the surroundings once you get to the top. The switchbacks help with the elevation gain but having walking sticks made it even better. We went during no the week so we were the only ones on the trail.

This hike is easy! My younger brother and I finished it less than 3.5 hours out and back! Also nice views though when you reach to the top.

This trail has exposure areas to the sun in several switchbacks so TAKE PLENTY of water!!!!! The heat was hard on me today!! Hiking poles may also be helpful.

Lots of comments seem to be for different trails. This review is for Icicle Ridge. This hike is 2.5 miles uphill with mostly switchbacks. Maybe 40-50% shade max. Great view at the top, but nothing spectacular along the way. This hike does not go along the river and it is also right off the main road (previous comment said 3 miles down a dirt road

Trail dusty the first 7 miles due to horse traffic but in good shape. Spent 3 nights between Brigham and Flora lakes in a beautiful meadow. Fishing great, flowers still in prime and the views, crystal clear.
